Bookings are live. June 1st, the first guests walk through our doors. Here’s everything you need to know.
Some things are worth taking time with. This is one of them.
After considerable planning, building, and more cold and hot pools testing than strictly necessary, thermae eleven is open for booking. June 1st, the first guests arrive, and the ritual begins. Everything we’ve been building toward finally becomes real.
We’d love for you to be part of it from the start. Before you book, here are a few things worth knowing.
thermae eleven is Calgary’s first outdoor-only hydrotherapy spa. Fully open air — no ceilings between you and the sky — built around a single, ancient, and remarkably effective ritual: heat, cold, rest, and repeat.
We offer two circuits to choose from. The social circuit brings the full sensory experience — dry sauna, wet steam house, hammam room, immersion shower, exfoliation room, hot pools, cold plunge, and stillness lounge. The private circuit trades breadth for seclusion — the same thermal sequence, a heated stone chair that makes the rest phase feel unreasonably good, and not another soul in sight.
Both run 105 minutes. Both are entirely outdoors. Both leave you feeling considerably more like yourself than when you arrived.
Not sure which to choose? We wrote the guide.
We build with intention, not excess. Water here is an instrument, not an amenity. Heat is a guide, not a gimmick.
thermae eleven draws its inspiration from water cultures that have existed for millennia — Nordic heat and contrast, Mediterranean steam, Japanese attention to sensory simplicity — distilled through a minimalist modern lens and grounded in the Alberta sky. This is a place for those who know the difference between distracting themselves and settling in.
Some places ask for your attention. This one gives it back.
thermae eleven sits in Ramsay — one of Calgary’s oldest inner-city neighbourhoods, developed as early as 1880 and tucked southeast of the downtown core along the Elbow River.
It’s a neighbourhood with genuine character. Edwardian-era heritage homes alongside industrial bones, alongside a thriving bohemian arts scene. Ramsay doesn’t try particularly hard to be interesting. It just is. Which is, frankly, the only kind of interesting worth being.
We chose it for the same reason we chose to be entirely outdoors: it felt right. Authentic. Unforced. The kind of place a hydrotherapy spa rooted in ancient ritual and prairie sky belongs.
You’ll find us at 1034 21 Ave SE, Calgary, AB.
We write regularly on the thermae edit, the brand’s editorial home for everything from the neuroscience of stillness to the history of Roman bathhouses to why Calgary was always the obvious city for this. If you’ve been reading along, thank you. If you haven’t, it’s worth a good moment or two.
Find us on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Sign up for the newsletter below — it’s where priority access, seasonal updates, and the occasional piece of news land first.
Bookings are open now for the full month of June. The social circuit, the private circuit, weekdays, weekends — it’s all there.
The cool well is ready. The sauna is warm. The stillness lounge is, appropriately, very quiet.
We’ll see you in Ramsay.
